Finally finished that Georgetown sequence yesterday, but was too busy watching and blogging the JGP event in St. Gervais to post. But today thankfully I have a little more time. Maybe I'll even get my next song recorded, although attempts this morning all failed.

Note: I originally came up with this idea and put it up on daredevilkink as a prompt before the second season, but after watching said season I decided to write it myself just to cheer myself up.

It seems 2016 is the year everyone in the MCU breaks up and wrecks their lives. We expected such things from Civil War, of course, what with it being the Civil War. But much more heartbreaking was actually the second season of Daredevil, especially since while we know the Avengers will be reunited in two years’ time, and the final sequence of Civil War even laid the ground for it, two months after it dropped we’re still waiting anxiously to see if that third season even happens(and if it does, and they do Born Again, it’ll get worse before it gets better). And meanwhile in real life, we’re starting to see even more sharply the divide between the movies and the TV universes, with a huge global phenomenon from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. getting what seems like a begrudged line of vague lipservice in Civil War. Which is not good; the whole appeal of this franchise is that they’ve got this shared universe with shared history, and the movies would be well to suck it up and accept that they’re not the only thing writing said history.

Took me a few days a few hundred more words than I'd anticipated, and the focus ended up being not quite what I had in mind when I started, but I'm still really proud of it

 I admit, I am not looking forward to having to grit my teeth through the Brucetasha that apparently is going to be in Age of Ultron, and I’m even seriously worried as to whether or not this romance will be in character for Natasha.  And until yesterday, I was also worried I would not have a reason to be glad, because Clint would be killed off anyway.  But now it’s confirmed he’s going to be in Civil War, so he’s gonna live.  Which means, by the way, that we know five of the first six Avengers will survive the upcoming movie, because that makes four of them in said movie, and Thor’s got his own upcoming movie too.

And remember, this is Joss Whedon we’re talking about.  If there’s a romance that really does come a bit out from left field?  He probably opted to go for it because it’s a romance that’s easy for him to doom.  Also, it’s hard to believe, especially with the latest trailer combined with all the remarks made, that we’re not going to lose someone, and there’s only one person who isn’t confirmed for the later movies.
Except losing, in Bruce Banner’s case, actually might not need to mean actually being killed off.  I have suspected for some time, and am even more convinced after seeing this Brucetasha promo and having everyone else confirmed as going to live, that they’re going to do the plotline from the comics where his friends send the Hulk off into space because they believe he’ll be better off there.  Besides, what act on Tony’s part would better really ensure that the Avengers would be torn apart?  Steve would be appalled by such an act done against the Hulk’s will, of course, which would be a perfect setup for the fight between them in Civil War.  The others could easily split down the middle(although Clint and Natasha had better not be torn apart over this.  Even if they’re strictly platonic, Bruce still shouldn’t be more important to her than him.  PERIOD.)
And if Whedon had decided to do the romance between Clint and Natasha?  Let’s face it, people, there’s only one way that would’ve ended.  And I’d rather have Clint apart from Natasha and alive than with her and dead.

Been dozing off way too much in the evenings in recent days. Last night I even slept through what proved the be the best number of the night of Dancing With the Stars. But Agents of SHIELD managed to keep me up tonight. That show's really starting to hit its stride now, from the humorous open scene(actually addressing who cleans up the mess left by superheros who never seem to stick around to do it themselves), to the final cliffhanger, and the first serious development of Grand Ward in between. Though I do suspect the writers of throwing in one final scene near the end with the specific intention of messing with a few shippers' heads, which actually isn't very nice of them. Even if the scene gave me an idea for another ficlet.
But meanwhile, this morning, my psychologist told me I should get more exercise into my day. When? By the time there's an opportunity I'm too tired. My second session with her wasn't as good as my first. The third is in December; until then I will wonder if I'll do a fourth.

Memo was passed around the department today about the government possibly shutting down and as a result us getting furloughed again, and this time without the notification we got last summer. Answers to various questions, including retirement/survivor benefit related ones that were actually potentially useful enough for me to print and bring home-to the news that the likelihood of said shutdown may be decreasing. Just when I was thinking I could use a week off too, but all in all, it's probably just as well. I do remember the havoc the last shutdown wrecked on the local businesses when I was a little girl, and my dad as essential personnel worked three weeks without pay, though of course they paid him afterwards.
Tonight watched Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., which I generally liked, though it was a slow-moving pilot; I think they knew they could get away with that, so did. It'll be interesting to see where it goes the next few weeks. No particularly favorite characters or anything like that yet, but perhaps that will come later.
