Aug. 8th, 2020 03:32 pmIt was over the weekend I watched episode 52 of Vox Machina, that being over two and half hours without a break of everyone nearly getting killed, and I watched practically all of it in a relatively short amount of time, which is the first time I discovered just how exhausting it can be to watch this damn series. By the time Laura Bailey was stressing about how noone would be there to defeat the dragons if they all died, one can only imagine how the players as a whole were feeling. Now I'm still in the middle of watching my way through their battling one of said dragons, though I think I'm nearly at the end of it. This part of the series really was nonstop.
It maybe wasn't the best part to be watching through on a week when we were all anticipating the run-in with the morkoth in the current campaign, though I was grateful for the first half of that episode, with its wonderful Jester and Yasha scenes I was able to go the sleep on, before catching the fight on the midnight rerun. Which was indeed pretty stressful, though it did help to know the running time and know when it had to end soon. So I only really had one moment of utter dread (*sigh* thanks, Liam), before we got one final reminder of how good a storyteller Matt Mercer is. Still, I felt tired for the whole day afterwards. DoD's VPN misbehaving lately hasn't helped.
The current situation with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't helping either. Especially since, while I've been clinging to Chloe Bennett's assurance this final won't let everyone down the way so many have recently done, I'm starting to have doubts. At the very least, Jemma needs to get her memories back. She and Fitz have been through enough that them not having their happy ending just makes you ask what the hell it was all for, and her not even getting the memories is just cruel.
Also, I'm trying to deal with the inevitable Jester/Fjord that now's going to happen. But at least there I trust that cast to not wreck their characters over it, and hey, Jester's second playlist even lays the groundwork for incorporating it into her character growth.
