Wrote the first half of this back in the summer, then finished it today in between putting ITPE podfics on my phone. None of my own works were podficced after all, but one of my favorite Claire fics was.

Title: And Don't Ever Look Back
Fandom: The Avengers
Characters: Clint/Laura/Natasha, the Barton children, Sam Wilson
Disclaimer: Now Disney owns them.
Warning: Things might get a touch political at times here
Note: Takes place a couple of weeks after the final scene of Civil War.

Clint’s stopped missing again. )

Finally finished that Georgetown sequence yesterday, but was too busy watching and blogging the JGP event in St. Gervais to post. But today thankfully I have a little more time. Maybe I'll even get my next song recorded, although attempts this morning all failed.

Title: Agent Murdock
Part: 4: Farewell to DC
Fandom: Daredevil/Captain America
Characters: Matt/Karen, Sharon Carter
Disclaimer: Now Disney owns them.
Warning: Sex and Catholic guilt
Note: I originally came up with this idea and put it up on [community profile] daredevilkink as a prompt before the second season, but after watching said season I decided to write it myself just to cheer myself up.

Title: Osphresis
Author: legete
Original Fic: Here
Fandom: Avengers
Characters: Natasha/Clint, the other Avengers
Disclaimer: Universe owned by Marvel & Disney. Original fic by legete.
Warning: Red Room horrors omegaverse-style
Notes: Been working on this podfic on and off since before Age of Ultron came out, but grew determined to finish it after realizing this author had essentially taken the same theme Whedon had and done a far better job of using it than him, though of course legete had the omegaverse to work with as well.

The day that she’s captured, she’s presenting as omega. She will always wonder if it saves her life.

It seems 2016 is the year everyone in the MCU breaks up and wrecks their lives. We expected such things from Civil War, of course, what with it being the Civil War. But much more heartbreaking was actually the second season of Daredevil, especially since while we know the Avengers will be reunited in two years’ time, and the final sequence of Civil War even laid the ground for it, two months after it dropped we’re still waiting anxiously to see if that third season even happens(and if it does, and they do Born Again, it’ll get worse before it gets better). And meanwhile in real life, we’re starting to see even more sharply the divide between the movies and the TV universes, with a huge global phenomenon from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. getting what seems like a begrudged line of vague lipservice in Civil War. Which is not good; the whole appeal of this franchise is that they’ve got this shared universe with shared history, and the movies would be well to suck it up and accept that they’re not the only thing writing said history.

Discussion of movie, ABC series, & Netflix series will include spoilers )

I am the lead on the library's new rebinding project. Now the the weeding is more or less done, and we have money available to get fixed some of the books that are falling apart, I am apparently in charge of organizing and culling which books get rebound and also arranging things with the bindery once we have a contract with one. I suppose I should have anticipated sooner or later they'd want me to oversee something like this, but that doesn't leave me with much more of an idea of what I'm doing. Still, so far the project has mostly involved just finding candidates, and we only just determined that initially we're going to stick to books under a certain size. This week I looked through the US History section from general history and diplomatic relations to the Civil War. Going through the Revolutionary War/Founding Fathers section earlier this week left Hamilton on constant loop in my head for the rest of it!
Speaking of Civil Wars, I read spoilers for a certain aspect of the upcoming movie: that have left me quite angry... ) So I was depressed over that today.

Title: Deuce
Fandom: The Avengers
Characters: Tony/Pepper, various other Avengers
Disclaimer: Now Disney owns them.
Warning: This story uses a good deal of tennis vocabulary
Note: Inspired by watching the US Open on ESPN, seeing the cameras and commentators identify various celebrities in the audience, and wondering if the Avengers ever showed up

So really, through much of his life, tennis had been something Tony could take or leave. )

Finished this one yesterday, and now I'd seriously thinking I'm going to write an omegaverse fic!

Title: The Kill List
Fandom: Agents of SHIELD/Daredevil/Thor/Jessica Jones/Ant Man/Avengers
Characters: Skye/Daisy, Ben Urich, Ellison, Jane/Thor, Darcy, Jessica Jones, Kilgrave, Hank Pym, Hope van Dyne, the Bartons & Natasha
Disclaimer: Now Disney owns them.
Warning: Depiction of Jessica during the time she was under Kilgrave's control
Note: 5+1 fic, dealing with five people target by Hydra through Project Insight, and one person who wasn't. Takes place just after Winter Soldier, obviously.

Even when she’d been at her most suspicious of S.H.I.E.L.D., back when they’d been the organization that was keeping information about her origins from her, Skye still would’ve been shocked by Project Insight. )

Took me a few days a few hundred more words than I'd anticipated, and the focus ended up being not quite what I had in mind when I started, but I'm still really proud of it

Title: Her People
Fandom: Avengers
Characters: Natasha/Clint/Laura, plus her relationships with the rest of the cast.
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel & Disney.
Warning: Mild sexual content
Notes: An attempt to fix Natasha's character following Age of Ultron.

She’s still learning to trust these new Avengers, even Sam and Rhodey. )
missizzy: (jessiejames)
And it seems the ship sunk this week, but I will go down with it. I think it unlikely this will be my final Clintasha fic.

Title: Take My Hand Now, Run Forever
Fandom: The Avengers
Pairing: Clint/Natasha
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel & Disney.
Warning: References to Red Room abuse of minors.
Notes: Sequel to Declaration and Situation.

Now, come in from this storm/And I taste you sweet and warm/Take what you need/Take what you need from me )

I admit, I am not looking forward to having to grit my teeth through the Brucetasha that apparently is going to be in Age of Ultron, and I’m even seriously worried as to whether or not this romance will be in character for Natasha.  And until yesterday, I was also worried I would not have a reason to be glad, because Clint would be killed off anyway.  But now it’s confirmed he’s going to be in Civil War, so he’s gonna live.  Which means, by the way, that we know five of the first six Avengers will survive the upcoming movie, because that makes four of them in said movie, and Thor’s got his own upcoming movie too.

And remember, this is Joss Whedon we’re talking about.  If there’s a romance that really does come a bit out from left field?  He probably opted to go for it because it’s a romance that’s easy for him to doom.  Also, it’s hard to believe, especially with the latest trailer combined with all the remarks made, that we’re not going to lose someone, and there’s only one person who isn’t confirmed for the later movies.
Except losing, in Bruce Banner’s case, actually might not need to mean actually being killed off.  I have suspected for some time, and am even more convinced after seeing this Brucetasha promo and having everyone else confirmed as going to live, that they’re going to do the plotline from the comics where his friends send the Hulk off into space because they believe he’ll be better off there.  Besides, what act on Tony’s part would better really ensure that the Avengers would be torn apart?  Steve would be appalled by such an act done against the Hulk’s will, of course, which would be a perfect setup for the fight between them in Civil War.  The others could easily split down the middle(although Clint and Natasha had better not be torn apart over this.  Even if they’re strictly platonic, Bruce still shouldn’t be more important to her than him.  PERIOD.)
And if Whedon had decided to do the romance between Clint and Natasha?  Let’s face it, people, there’s only one way that would’ve ended.  And I’d rather have Clint apart from Natasha and alive than with her and dead.

Warning: Discussion & aftermath of torture. Explicit sexual acts.

Fandom: Agents of SHIELD
Characters: Phil Coulson, Jasper Sitwell
Disclaimer: Universe owned by Marvel & Disney. Original fic by dizmo.

Been dozing off way too much in the evenings in recent days. Last night I even slept through what proved the be the best number of the night of Dancing With the Stars. But Agents of SHIELD managed to keep me up tonight. That show's really starting to hit its stride now, from the humorous open scene(actually addressing who cleans up the mess left by superheros who never seem to stick around to do it themselves), to the final cliffhanger, and the first serious development of Grand Ward in between. Though I do suspect the writers of throwing in one final scene near the end with the specific intention of messing with a few shippers' heads, which actually isn't very nice of them. Even if the scene gave me an idea for another ficlet.
But meanwhile, this morning, my psychologist told me I should get more exercise into my day. When? By the time there's an opportunity I'm too tired. My second session with her wasn't as good as my first. The third is in December; until then I will wonder if I'll do a fourth.

Just a short idea that's been plaguing me for a while, and I was finally prompted to write after this week's episode.

Title: Need to Know
Fandom: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Characters, Phil Coulson, Skye
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel & Disney.
Notes: Takes place right after "The Hub."

Memo was passed around the department today about the government possibly shutting down and as a result us getting furloughed again, and this time without the notification we got last summer. Answers to various questions, including retirement/survivor benefit related ones that were actually potentially useful enough for me to print and bring home-to the news that the likelihood of said shutdown may be decreasing. Just when I was thinking I could use a week off too, but all in all, it's probably just as well. I do remember the havoc the last shutdown wrecked on the local businesses when I was a little girl, and my dad as essential personnel worked three weeks without pay, though of course they paid him afterwards.
Tonight watched Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., which I generally liked, though it was a slow-moving pilot; I think they knew they could get away with that, so did. It'll be interesting to see where it goes the next few weeks. No particularly favorite characters or anything like that yet, but perhaps that will come later.

After immensely enjoying Robert Downey jr’s snark and saunter his way through The Avengers, I was greatly looking forward to a whole movie worth of him, but when Joss Whedon wasn’t involved, I actually felt like I could only expect so much. So while without him the zinger quotient was definitely lower, even so I was pleasantly surprised.
Vague spoilers... )

Title: Declaration
Fandom: The Avengers
Pairing: Clint/Natasha
Disclaimer: They belong to Marvel & Disney.
Warning: Discussion & aftermath of rape and torture. Explicit sexual acts.
Notes: Takes place essentially during the final montage of the movie, between the battle and Thor's departing Earth with Loki.

I haven’t even told the others about everything yet, because as far as I’m concerned, it’s bad enough I’m having to talk about this once. )

We actually had a little snow the day before Christmas, and a bit more this morning. But mostly it was rain both days. It hindered my family's tradition Christmas Eve walk in Old Town and going to the museum today, but hearing about what other people have gone through at the hands of the weather, I suppose we were lucky. Christmas, on the other hand, was a clear day where the high hit 50, pleasant enough for going out for Les Miserables(review tomorrow, I think) and peking duck, as well as to my sister's house where we opened all our presents. Got The Hunger Games and The Avengers on DVD, and spent last evening and much of today watching various scenes and features. So far, the former rewards rewatching a lot more than the latter, especially since I've now read the book, but I enjoyed revisiting both, plus I'm working on an Avengers fic right now, so it was really useful to be able to look at a couple of scenes related to it. The best part on the rewatch might have been Tony; his snark remains funny, and I've developed another level of appreciation of Downey, jr.'s ability to deliver us this character.
