missizzyMemo was passed around the department today about the government possibly shutting down and as a result us getting furloughed again, and this time without the notification we got last summer. Answers to various questions, including retirement/survivor benefit related ones that were actually potentially useful enough for me to print and bring home-to the news that the likelihood of said shutdown may be decreasing. Just when I was thinking I could use a week off too, but all in all, it's probably just as well. I do remember the havoc the last shutdown wrecked on the local businesses when I was a little girl, and my dad as essential personnel worked three weeks without pay, though of course they paid him afterwards.
Tonight watched Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., which I generally liked, though it was a slow-moving pilot; I think they knew they could get away with that, so did. It'll be interesting to see where it goes the next few weeks. No particularly favorite characters or anything like that yet, but perhaps that will come later.
