Now Ian's dead too

We may have initially thought Ian was recovering from whatever was wrong with him, but then he took a turn downward, and again stopped eating very much. We got multiple kinds of new food we hoped might tempt him, tried bringing it over to him and putting him in front of him, but success was limited. Today my mother and sister took him to the vet, and it ended with them putting him down. As with Clarissa, there was no way to tell just what was wrong without paying a lot of money to make him suffer through tests that probably wouldn't have made much practical difference in the end. He almost seems to have just lost the will to live.
Honestly, I wonder if he ever recovered from losing Clarissa. Or the trauma of mom then being carried out of the house and not coming back for weeks and weeks, even though she eventually did.
