Another Hotelpocalypse

missizzyI took leave for today. I could do with a maintenance day anyway. Around the time I went into the waiting room about 11:30, went through another capchta (and I think my experience with Steam's has traumatized me long-term in relation to those!), and promptly found myself in a queue to get into said waiting room, I found myself thinking I probably made the right decision. I would have melted down had I tried to do this on my phone.
Although the website overload that presumably caused the queue seems not to have lasted. My sister had to take mom to physical therapy, but they got back here at about five to 12, and apparently got into the waiting room right away. She actually got to the form about a minute or so ahead of me, but it was still nearly five minutes by then, so we're looking at offers of lesser downtown hotel rooms if we're lucky. We have pitched to mom a family vacation on Coronado Island if we're not. We'd stay in a place that apparently caters to rich old people, so any mobility issues she still had probably wouldn't be much of a problem. Though I do worry about flying there and back; I think that can get complicated if you've got brain injuries.
I've already gotten the impression she's not going to be traveling on her own very much any more, so perhaps we will take her with us for these things occasionally. Maybe to New York in the fall? Although another thing my sister noted is IATSE might be striking come August, so NYCC might not even happen if the corporate assholery is bad enough.
