Friendsgiving with my mom's elderly friends, one of whom brought his adult son, so at least I wasn't the only kid there, was a bit of an odd experience. I ultimately did enjoy their company, but don't really know what I thought of any of them. That the food was less than worthy, especially of the high prices they charged us, and after we specified multiple times we wanted separate checks and they agreed, they initially insisted they couldn't do that for us, just added to the whole strangeness of the afternoon. Mom and I initially didn't plan to have dinner tonight, because we figured we'd eat enough at the restaurant, but now we intend to make ourselves some comfort dishes, pasta and soup.
I suppose I should be thankful my sister and her husband are continuing to recover, though this still was a pretty rough week. My back flaring us hasn't exactly helped either! Still, I have now accepted that any days when I am not working and the bus is running to the metro, I might want to take advantage. So tomorrow I will be braving the Black Friday metro to go into DC and make my first comic book store run in months.
