I'm probably going to have to change my dentist. With open season for federal benefits starting this week, I looked into my insurance plan to find out why they stopped paying for my root canal treatment when they hadn't even payed for all that much this year. Which was quite a task in itself, given how the system was set up, but I eventually learned it's because the practice I've been going to isn't "in network" with any federal insurance plans. It seems that to avoid big bills, one must go to dentists that let the insurance control what treatment they give you. (And even then, there lingers the possibility they'll pull something fast on you and leave you with a big bill anyway.) I hate it, but my teeth are only going to have more problems as I get older, and I can't pay this kind of money every year. My sister has directed me to a website where one can find "in network" dentists, and I'll probably choose one on Tuesday. I'm not all that attached to the dentists at the practice, anyway. I'm very sorry, on the other hand, to leave their oral hygienist, but she's old enough she'll likely retire soon.
As I've been typing this, my air purifier has suddenly started setting itself to high level for a brief periods of time. It went to the red light yesterday morning, too. Rather confusing, since the EPA insists the air quality in this area's quite good right now, but it might be some weird dust/pollen combo; my sinuses have been complaining a bit in recent days. Or maybe it expresses the need for a new filter, which it should theoretically need right about now, in a way other than the instructions claim? (There's a light that's supposed to light up, which hasn't.)
