We've been having dishwasher issues for a very long time, but this morning, when it became clear it wasn't going to be distributing the detergent anymore, it was officially declared in need with repairs. If they can be done. Mom really doesn't want to pay for a new one, but I fear that even if we don't have to this time, our current one won't have more than a handful of years left in it.
Meanwhile, she has gone out and gotten dishwashing liquid, and she looked for a basin small enough to fit in our sink, but most stores don't offer them anymore. She washed dishes for years before we got a dishwasher, and at least we've still got one that can give them a good hot water soak if we do just a little cleaning first. She's already promised to show me how to handwash some other night. Which she in fact did last time the dishwasher went out of commission some years back, and I ended up washing my dishes on my own a couple times, but I'm going to need the refresher, definitely. Hopefully I won't get as much water on the floor as I did the last time. We didn't have a cat with balance issues back then.
Though Clarissa has seemed to improve a little bit. We're now pretty confident she'll live fine until such time as she has another stroke or some other woe-but we can't really prevent one of those, should they decide to happen.

Thanks. Though now we're looking more at living with it, at least for a while.
