Heard yesterday the CDC level in Alexandria is back down to medium, but it's still too cold out to go much of anywhere. I may well spend much of the next four weekends the way I did last year, dropping into Legend of Vox Machina watch parties on Twitch. Though I'm not sure how many times I want to watch the third one. Even if I was deeply impressed with all three episodes when I watched them Thursday night. The first one especially was a well-crafted whole, efficiently wrecking the world the main characters have lived in while still finding time for things like Uriel's death (which of course we didn't get on stream since the PCs didn't witness it) and the rescue of Gilmore, and even helping set up long-game things like Scanlan's eventual falling-out with the group.
I admit the second episode threw me a bit, since it diverged a great deal from the stream in the Zahra and Kash it produced for us. Though as others have pointed out, they aren't entirely unlike the ones we first met during the Trial of the Take. I do hope we get them coming around and fighting properly alongside Vox Machina as payoff at some point, though that might actually have get to the Vecna fight first, since I don't see these versions of the characters coming to Tal'dorei to fight the dragons. (Unless Vorugal heads for Vasselheim instead of Draconia?) In any case, I suppose we've got to go back to Vasselheim at some point, since Grog hasn't had his declaration of his source of strength yet, and that might be another thing for later seasons. I like that he didn't, though. It makes sense that would take him a while.
And as for the third episode...I can only wonder what those who knew nothing of the original story watching this are thinking right now. (Though if they saw the trailer, they have to figure Vex can't stay dead, simply because she was in too much of it.) The flashbacks were brilliant buildup, though, both to leave us in tears at the end of this episode and for us to think that of course Vax is going to tell that Raven bitch to take him instead, because of course he'd rather he die than live without Vex. But even for those of us that know what's going to happen, it's gonna be a long week, especially since it's not quite clear exactly how this version of it is going to. (Kash doesn't seem likely to be doing the spell in this version. And they might even skip all that and just have Vax directly bargain to bring her back.)
