Dec. 31st, 2022 02:39 pmAt first thought, I thought this wasn't a very eventful year for me. But it was, in its various ways. It was not only the year I finished the first long-term D&D campaign I was involved in, lost the group, and joined another online one, but one where until the group fell apart I had friends, ones that even invited me to things a handful of times. That we fell apart with the group makes me sad, but not as depressed as I thought it would, if only because I know I can probably manage to do it all again.
It's a year I walked away from Twitter, and Spotify, and also gave up on making CDs, and I spent much of it copying my music collection to my computer; I've done the majority of it now. I am now more on Discord than I was. I also finally put my bookshelves in order, and am starting to read more of what's currently on them!
It's also the year where I first really started to feel the effects of getting older, what with the increased amount of neck and back pains and being warned about my teeth. I have now accepted I may have to limit how much I try to walk outdoors when it hits the 80s and 90s outside.
Almost all the fic I posted was Critical Role, much of it reactions to the ongoing campaign. AO3 hit counts range from only 29 for "Nugget's Surprising Friends" to over a thousand for a couple of the smuttier pieces I posted earlier in the year. But even if they didn't get as many hits as some things, I think I'm proudest of these two fics.
Right now, I'm feeling hopeful about next year, at least on the personal level. On the larger one, well, we'll see what happens next in the world there.
