missizzySo I am throwing out an idea for what may happen at the beginning of tomorrow's Critical Role episode. To be fair, I'm not the first person to think of the basic idea behind this-I think I first saw it Tumblr?-but the buildup of this scene from there is entirely my own.
So we start with the recap, obviously, and some more descriptions from Matt of flaring light, and he has Laudna make her death save, so she either lives or dies, and hopefully if she lives FCG can quickly heal her. The Otohan triumphantly does something dramatic-or possibly just grabs either the two or three corpses lying around with remarks of them possibly still being useful after all, and there's more flashes of light.
Matt then directs Laura, and Marisha, if Laudna's dead, to leave the table. He starts with a scene with the survivors, now left in the middle of what's left of the street, with Imogen and their dead friends nowhere in sight. Probably they'll decide to try to break back into the Seat of Disdain, especially since Otohan may or may not use her powers to locate and take Treshi back with her as well-and if she didn't, he'd probably dead, so their main goal really will be to rescue at least Imogen, and they really want to get in there fast, if they want to have any hope of getting their dead friends to a powerful enough cleric within the next ten days. Possibly Yu shows up for an uneasy alliance-or maybe they'll even get some other guests in.
Then they all leave the table, and Laura and the players of the killed characters come back in. They wake up in the dungeons of the Seat of Disdain. Imogen has crazy powers she's got little control over and is under a lot of magical restraints. And Orym, Fearne, and Laudna, if she's there, all have glowing growths in the sides of their heads not unlike Ashton's.
And I'm not really sure how the hell Matt would juggle that from there; probably the rescue would have to happen pretty quickly. But I'd love to see how that premise would then play out, and what each of the players and characters would choose to do with their new powers, even what levels they might end up taking to express them as.
