missizzyI have now gotten the ArriveCAN app installed on both my own and my mother's phones, and our passport and vaccination info all entered in. The actual trip info we can't enter in for another week. Procedures for international travel are definitely feeling like they've changed a hell of a lot since we last engaged in it. Yeah, one would expect to have to provide more vaccination information, but it feels like more than just that, that they're demanding more from us in general from further beforehand and with more expectations of everyone being able to do electronic stuff. My mother has repeated to me about how she would not have been able to handle any of this if I hadn't handled it for her.
It worries me, however, to have her telling me to keep my distance from our gay neighbors because of monkeypox. I set her straight as much as I could manage on that point, but it was still alarming. I've already struggled to make her less transphobic-she does recognize the persecution of transgender people as wrong, at least, but seems unwilling to believe that inclusive language does not erase women even when my sister and I have both tried to talk to her about it.
