Long-term plans
Jul. 17th, 2022 09:12 amI mentioned to my mother yesterday we were running a little low on KN95s, and she promptly ordered two more boxes on them on Amazon, complete with same-day delivery-though she seemed oddly surprised when they actually then arrived only a handful of hours later. Right now, it's no longer hard to get those if you've got the money for it. There's enough in them to last us a good long time.
What sacrifices one is willing to make have to change once you start to realize there's a good chance they're going to be permanent ones; I really can't see an end to this pandemic anymore. I've been contemplating how many weeks I should wait on average before going to see Marvel movies. (Thor sounds popular enough I'll probably give it another one before going.) I haven't given up on going to the U.S. Open or New York Comic Con yet this year, but a hell of a lot is going to depend on exactly how the upcoming weeks go there. I might even buy myself a few more of Threadless' comfy cloth masks, because I feel fine with wearing those in the library, where I'm actually not in proximity to other people all that much. It's a bigger debate with myself of keeping those KN95s on while waiting for the bus in the evening when it's *this* hot out, though I suspect I'll welcome it come winter. I've even found I kind of like having two days of the work week where I don't have to do the commute.
Less than a month before I travel internationally for the first time since the middle of 2019. Canada apparently wants incomers to have things on a special phone app related to their vaccination status, but as of right now, we won't have to test going either way. My mom may only be willing to go because of that second detail; she dreads the possibility of being trapped in a hotel for two weeks. But now we're talking about going to London next year if Eurovision does indeed land there, so I don't know how that would go at all.
