Watched Eurovision yesterday on a Discord stream, with an expert providing info to those who had never watched before, and a bunch of people who were not at all happy at the result. I've long since resigned myself to the fact that the best song rarely wins, and this year my favorite was the French song, which of course came in very near the bottom, and there was been results way worse than a good Ukrainian bop taking it because the audience is making a statement. Actually, it's rather telling that the audience has made a statement with their winner three times since I first started watching in 2009.
There is the question, though, of who the hell's going to host next year. It would certainly be a laugh if Britain ended up doing it, after everything.

I loved the French entry too and was sad that it didn't do better. I'm not disappointed by the final result though - it's a good song and an overwhelming statement from the public vote.

I watched on the night and spent a lot of time giggling at the What Is Happening hashtags that were trending here in the UK while the voting took place. The answer being that we both sent a decent entry this year and have actually done okay with our response to the war in Ukraine (apart from our Home Secretary's inevitably appalling approach to the refugee situation). I suspect that we'll be back to our usual form of vying with Germany for last place next year but it was nice while it lasted.
