Nov. 7th, 2021 07:45 pmI went quite a ways into DC looking into the two comic book shops left on Apple Maps trying to find this first Mighty Nein:Origins novel. When it wasn't at either, I checked on my phone to make sure it was actually out-and discovered it wasn't for another month! I could've sworn I'd read about it being released already, but this isn't even the first time I've made this kind of mistake since coming out of quarantine. I'm starting to worry I'm never going to regain my ability to calendar properly.
Instead, today was the day I finally finished episode 56. I knew, of course, about Caleb presenting the beacon at the end. I'd also heard about the whole attempt to pass him and Beau off as slaves, and yeah, it's painful indeed that such a wonderful dramatic moment was immediately preceded by some of the show's most cringeworthy ones. I did not know anything else that happened in between these two parts of the episode, though, and the twist with Lythir was still a striking one; the whole throne room sequence was such a crazy back and forth affair. Also watching everyone's reactions after Matt called the episode brought home what Caleb's act, though both the morally right and practically smartest thing to do at that juncture, could cost the entire group.
I've just now also watched the first twenty minutes of episode 57. I have seen Essek introduced. Go me!
