From the time Critical Role announced last week they were going to be revealing a new secret project today, I was hoping it was Aabria running a short-term campaign. It's a very sensible thing for them to do if they need a break. First of all there's been the diversity issue, and while we'd all love to see Mica Burton join the main cast, that's a big commitment from her and not an easy thing when they've got such a large group already. A side-campaign run by a DM of color, who can do more from that position anyway, among other players, was always the more likely alternative. It also explains why, on a season of Narrative Telephone with a scant four guests, she was one of them. Of course they wanted us to know and love her already before they presented her as doing this.
And how it worked! I think the majority of fans are feeling a little giddy over this. I know I'm excited to see what she does with Exandria.

I did not predict it but I'm so excited! She was amazing on Narrative Telephone and I'm really looking forward to this.
