It is officially cicada season here in Northern Virginia. We've been seeing the bugs for some time, and some the neighbors have even put protective nets on their trees. Now the buzz is so loud we can hear it from inside the house; I woke up this morning to it having gotten louder. Though oddly enough, when we went down the supermarket yesterday, we could barely hear it even outside. I don't know if they flock where the trees are, or what. I'm hoping to go to Old Town this afternoon, so I'll see how loud it is there.
Although the heat has shown up too. I may once again be riding the bus just to avoid getting baked by 90-degree weather.

I think we used to have cicadas in my corner of Ottawa. Not sure if their descendants are still with us this cycle...?
