missizzyTurned out my sister needed sandals too, and she had an extra Jane Austen funko pop to gift to us. So the two of us ended up going out for them together, first going to Old Town and walking through much of it, seeing what survived the pandemic, and what didn't. Too many spaces are still for lease down there. Though at least they lost the confederate soldier statue too. The shoe store was still there, but had very little on offer for less than a hundred bucks. My sister pointed out I could more or less afford it, but I refuse on principle to spend *that* much on a single pair of shoes when I still can't be sure they'll actually last longer for it.
So we sought out the DSW in Pentagon Row, which thankfully did survive, though at a glance, it appeared the bigger places actually suffered more casualties than the smaller ones there. Where she found an improved version of the shoes she'd been eyeing in Old Town for less! We both got sandals and spent a few minutes just hanging around outside wearing them and not wearing masks, though we were pretty far from anyone else anyway. The stores seem to have kept their mask mandates for at least this weekend, so that made a few things easier.
Today I properly test my new sandals, as I finally check out the game store I've been wanting to go to since last summer, which also means using the metro for the first time in fourteen months. That one I do want to do alone, if only so I can determine how long it takes for me to get there.
