missizzyThere is a fence around my old elementary school. Nobody's been in there since last March, and we were getting the impression it might be closing down for good. Now I think they might be about to bulldoze it. I don't know where the kids would be going instead, though perhaps they intend to settle that question once it's actually safe for them to be going anywhere. They might even just be intending to rebuild it, the way they did my old high school(T.C. Williams, of Remember the Titans fame!), this time without any asbestos in the walls. The current building's old enough to have them, and this would be an obvious time to do that.
It's a strange feeling, especially since my time there was marred by a lot of bullying. Also, until last year, I was only setting foot in its hallways once every four years, since it's been the local polling place as well, and for most elections you just step straight into the gym, but for presidential ones the lines got long enough they had us form them in the building. And every four years, the place just got more different.
Mostly it's again hit me how old I've gotten.
