Enjoying a four-day weekend, since I'm taking Tuesday off as well. Yesterday mom and I went to the Signature Theater to see Ragtime. It's the first time I've been to the Signature in years; it's one of those places we haven't gone to much since dad died. They are very good at what they do, there; Ragtime by itself is a very powerful musical, and it was even more so with the ability of the cast they had. It doesn't feel entirely like a modern musical, but it definitely doesn't feel dated either.
Since we are once again going to see my sister and brother-in-law on the 26th, we decided to do our normal Boxing Day visit to the National Gallery today instead. It's currently enough under renovation for much of the normal collection to not be available, though we visited a little of it. The main thing we saw was their current exhibit on Dorothea Lange's photographs, which was a look at early-mid 20th century U.S. history as well as her; she captured a lot of it in her photos of mostly people. Some of the photos were pretty well known; I even recognized one I'd seen in one of my history textbooks. We also dipped into the museum shop, and I bought a puzzle of one of Monet's water lily paintings.
Tomorrow we go to see a movie, probably Maestro. We won't try for Chinese food, though, if only because we ended up having it only last week!
