We voted

This morning, mom and I filled out our ballets in each other's presence, then went down the city electoral office and dropped them off. The process hasn't changed all that much since I last voted absentee a decade back, though the packets now include more details of how and where they can be delivered. Also, I Voted stickers, which I honestly would've appreciated more had I gotten them back in school. Mom was a nervous wreck throughout the whole thing. It did not help matters when we saw en route our favorites kitchen supplies store is going out of business. Or when we saw a line coming out of the office that went around the block, and she initially thought it was for people dropping their ballots off! But it turned out it was for in-person voting; we just went straight in, dropped out ballots in the official box, and the only stress from that point involved locating where we'd left the car in the garage we'd parked it in.
So now all we can do is wait for whatever the hell happens next. The long line was a pretty encouraging sight, and if there was anyone intimidating anyone in it, we didn't spot them. Of course, we weren't there for very long.
