Aug. 14th, 2019 07:02 amMonday the traffic in Old Town was at its worst yet. The shuttle bus spent so long trying to turn onto King Street that when a bunch of Dash buses approached, including the one that would take me home, I was among the crowd that got off. I ran down the block to make sure I got to the bus stop at the end before my bus did, but there was no need. It seemed every time the lights on a block turned green, so many cars were turning onto King on the block ahead of it that noone could move. It took twenty minutes for the bus to get across the block and reach me. We spent half and hour after that traveling the next few blocks, before thankfully the streets cleared up, and I was home surprisingly quickly after that.
Yesterday, on the other hand, King was much less crowded, and I was home by six, which I usually haven't been this summer. I have no real idea what the difference was. I wonder if anyone knows.
I now have ten more times to endure this, provided the metro reopens as currently scheduled. But what happens after that, going forward, I don't think anyone knows either.
