My mother went to Wolf Trap with a friend last night, and I went with her to Whole Foods to get the food for their picnic. I rarely set foot in Whole Foods these days, usually only at the Depository Library Conference to get something for the DC/Maryland regional lunch. Last October, that Whole Foods didn't have constant reminders that it's not owned by Amazon. Yesterday, the one in Old Town did. The blue signs with the arrows were everywhere. It might've been Prime Day coming up, but it felt more like Amazon reinforcing their image that they now own the world. It felt utterly appalling.
My mother now watches most things on Prime, though. She might watch Good Omens, now that she knows that's where it is. It'll be interesting to see her reaction, at least.
