Watching the Wimbledon men's doubles finals just now, I am now of the opinion they should always have ladies first at the business end of Grand Slams, especially at slams where they don't have a normal tiebreak in the final set. Then the four ladies playing in the doubles final could've had their match done today, instead of waiting for an eternity and then being told they have to come back tomorrow. Also, maybe Serena could've gotten that 24th slam last year and that could've long been in the books by now, who knows?
But instead they will not only have to come back, they'll have to wait through another best of five men's match, and one involving Novak Djokovic. Meanwhile, Serena still hasn't won since having her baby, and for the first time, the 24th and further doesn't feel completely inevitable anymore. It still feels very probable, but that's still sad.
At least it was a great men's doubles final, full of the kind of tennis that makes doubles tennis deserving of far more attention than it gets. A little sorry Nicolas Mahut didn't win, but hey, unlike a certain Trumpite, he definitely seems to have achieved his career goals, so...
