May. 5th, 2019 07:47 amParticipated in Free Comic Book day yesterday, getting the Doctor Who comic. Reading it left me aware of how much I miss the Doctor and her companions right now; it was very nice to get a little more of them. Also got what I thought was the latest Ms. Marvel, but turned out to be the end of the last writer's run. Thankfully it was a stand-alone issue which really made you go "Awwww" at the end.
Turned on the Kentucky Derby when I got home, and mom and I watched the race while we were making dinner, as we've done most years since dad died, though he was the one who used to take us to the races. Of course, usually the show is over by the time we put the food on the table. This year, we found ourselves keeping the TV on even as we moved into the dining room to eat when that drama ensued. I mostly feel sorry for the poor jockey who thought he'd won, and is now probably going to bear the brunt of the consequences for his horse getting spooked.
Today is just supposed to be getting groceries, except it's going to double as my mother trying to make Waze work; she is not good with GPSes. The fact that she is again preparing to travel probably doesn't help the current situation.
