Went out this weekend with a gentleman friend, and we walked through the tidal basin, stopping to gaze into the water, make comments as he had to duck under low-hanging tree limbs, spotting two couples getting wedding pictures taken, getting blown on by the wind until we ducked into the Jefferson Memorial for cover, commenting on the size and the low hanging tree limbs around the FDR Memorial, and swapping "Where were you when..." stories at the Martin Luther King Memorial. Unfortunately by then my feet were burning(he walked fast!), so we didn't make it to the Lincoln Memorial, but instead headed for the Foggy Bottom Metro. On the way there we had to stop while a whole stream of men and women all in various kinds of red dresses ran past for reasons unknown (apparently something to do with the baseball team?). It was several minutes before they thinned enough to keep walking, and we ran into stragglers afterwards.
Yesterday with the rain coming down I stayed in, rested my feet, and watched all the skating videos needed to do the report(though I think I missed even a couple of the winning performances; there were just too many to watch). Mom and dad came back from NY a few hours early because their only plans there for Sunday had required it not to rain. Didn't mind, not after Saturday, when I accidentally put laundry detergent in the dishwater and ended up with a bubbly froth in the garbage disposal. The dishes seemed fine, but I don't know about the rest.
