Yesterday went to the Folger to see The Winter's Tale. I saw that once before, when my family got to go to Globe in London, where it was very unimaginatively done. This production was far better, and left my mother talking about how it's one of her favorite plays. But even when the production's good, it still seems to me too ridiculous a play for that. Mostly I think the king's a bastard and Hermione deserved better.
Went on a date last night, with a guy born in Puerto Rico, though he's lived most of his life here. Works in Old Town, and showed me the store, though it was closed by then. He was generally an okay guy, and I'm hoping to see him again, though I don't know if much will come of it from there. And I'm booked for next weekend already. Bought my ticket for Infinity War today. He's still trying to catch up on the recent movies before he goes to see it!
Went to the George Mason Book Sale today. Unfortunately everything was picked over this year. There weren't even any nature photography books left. Except I did get a new copy of Stephen King's The Stand, because my old one vanished a long time ago. Reread bits of it this afternoon. The first third of it is brilliant, and most of the rest pretty damn good. I don't go for horror, generally, but The Stand feels more like an epic.
