And it seems once again Congress has kicked the funding debate down the lane, and there will again not be a shutdown next week. Very telling how they can all get along and vote together in order to rob us blind with their so-called "tax reform" but can't when it comes to spending money on things. Of course, the members of my family never get the shutdowns off anyway. Due to a peculiarity in the library's funding, it actually wouldn't be affected!
Meanwhile, two of the gifts mom got to be distributed Saturday haven't arrived, but we wrapped the rest tonight. I was sure to show her one of the funniest pie charts I've ever seen, but contrary to what it would indicate, our cats actually didn't get in the way during the wrapping process. Mostly they sniffed at the wrapping paper and ribbons not yet put to use. Clarissa did start trying to eat one of the rolls of wrapping paper. But the real problem we had was one of the sheets we had on hand was lousy and tore easily. We threw it out after having to cover extra on two of the items.
Spent the rest of the evening watching footage from Russian and Japanese Nationals. If Kaori Sakamoto ends up taking the second Olympic berth over all the other Japanese girls that had fans desperately hoping they'd get it, she'd better be spectacular in Korea. And Milan, if they send her there too. Now holding out hope for Dmitri Aliev too, but who knows. Ten points is a lot, and Russia might not be able to wait until after Europeans to name the team this time, since they'll need time for the IOC to clear them. I'll feel sad for Sergei Voronov if he doesn't make it, but, well, the other three guys are kind of better than him.
