I didn't even know how I was going to react to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before sitting down to it tonight. Answer: same as I have since they adopted this crazy shot-of-emotional-cocktail-to-the-arm formula they've got going. Well, except that after all that criticism about not having any LGBT characters and not looking like they were planning to, I am rather amused that Marvel actually just kept it under wraps, just like they keep everything under wraps, and drop it casually in that Joey has had a boyfriend. Not that it hasn't had an impact on his character, as his final dialogue with Daisy notes, but it's only a part of it. I'm still worried they'll kill the guy off, but for now they're actually doing this one right.
On the other hand, I am quite put out that they did no research on the DC metro; if they did they would know that Rosalind would be breaking strict rules just carrying a coffee onto the trains, and her guys certainly could not have gotten it to her on the way to the platform! Unless there is some offhand mention in Civil War of Tony Stark(or maybe Pepper) getting that rule changed single-handedly that one's going on their permanent record.
But as for the rest...Huntingbird! I did not expect that twist, but I love it. Daisy still being Skye, just with a new name. Mack being Mack, and that being a great thing. And Fitz being the most badass heartbroken man in the universe. And oh Jemma! What have the last few months been like for her?
Even if I'm actually not looking forward to seeing May or Ward again, because I'm warying of what they're doing the former, and the latter still needs to just die.
