Tonight Everyone Mourns
Aug. 11th, 2014 10:00 pmBeen reminiscing and reading tweets and even watching a small amount of CNN for the past couple of hours. Recalling Hook and Aladdin and Dead Poet's Society; it took me years after seeing that last film to really feel its impact on me. Eeerily I actually watched a small amount of August Rush while flipping through the TV channels only yesterday; I saw it again today when I turned the TV on. We are all of us encouraging each other's sadness to know we are not alone in feeling sad, and yet giving each other comfort still. On tumblr there have been pictures and gifs of all sorts, plus a music file of "Friend Like Me" is also currently floating about.
At least this is getting a lot of people to talk about depression, and how it can lurk even behind the cheerful and comic face. I am reminded of the reaction of the hockey community and fans when Wade Belak, another man who played the clown to hide his depression, died in a similar manner, only now it's everyone around involved. If people could just remember, but they don't that often.
The world had already been sad and painful these past few weeks, but it seems there is always another reason to be sad that can pop up. I'm dreading the next one...
