My sister noted at one point, late last week, that San Diego Comic Con can be overwhelming. She thought I did pretty well with handling it for the first time. There was one point Thursday afternoon where I honestly thought it had defeated me. But the rest of it ultimately went better. I made it to two panels that day, and came away with a lot of pretty dice(including a Ministry of Silly Walks D6!), a beautiful drawing of Yasha, and some stickers of the Nein(and Kiri!). My sister also bought us both Her Universe purses, and my new LOTR one is truly beautiful, though I'm still adapting to the practical use of it.
We also made it to Coronado for a beach day, I went to the Museum of Maritime History, which includes the HMS Surprise(formerly the HMS Rose) they filmed Master and Commander on (apparently it's since been used for a POTC movie and a couple of commercials as well), and I also went to Balboa Park, walked in the Japanese garden there, and even briefly popped into one of the smaller(and free) museums. I've had the zoo recommended to me, but it didn't happen this year.
But, as my sister was sure to remind me, I can now get into the presale, so hopefully next year I'll be back, and for multiple days-but I will not buy for all four, even if I get the chance. I'm pretty sure handling that would be beyond me.
There's been one piece of very good news since I've gotten back as well: my passport status on the DoS website has changed to "shipped." According to the USPS website, it should arrive tomorrow, and the biggest stressor of the summer will at long last be over.
