Like most Critters, I have been kept sane this week mostly by this show, and its ridiculously wholesome DM roundtable, and the return of Bells Hells with extra Erika Ishii goodness, and they even fixed the title sequence. But my own D&D group adventure felt like even more a highlight of the week. Our DM was a little dismayed when we killed the Balor he'd set us against a little quicker than he thought we would, but the rest of the session that ensued felt like some of the most gripping stuff we've done so far. There was getting the blessing of an evil god to keep from getting killed, which then put everything in desperate straits, there was a final encounter with a bad guy where our confusion about his plans very nearly got us killed anyway, there was us getting creative with our spells and abilities and even negotiating with the DM-though in the end we turned down one crazy deal he offered us. By the time we stood, battered to the hells, in the wrecked up remains of a town having more or less won the day, it really felt like we were having to come down. The session ended with our path to the climax of the campaign finally establishing itself somewhat, too.
One member of the group inviting us all to an early 4th of July party on Sunday as well. I warned him I wasn't feeling very patriotic right now, but he seemed pretty understanding of that, so...
