Dec. 26th, 2024 01:36 pmChristmas went well enough yesterday. We went over to my sister and brother-in-laws, and she actually had to watch the Beyonce half-time show for professional reasons, so we saw that, and spent some time afterwards trying to explain it to mom. Mom and I both got new puzzle boards with covers for protection from the cats, and I also got The Imagination Chamber and the second volume of The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation.
I watched the Doctor Who Christmas special this morning. I genuinely enjoyed it, but there was multiple points during it I became very aware of the Moffatness of it, and how much I had not missed his writing. It might have even been Ncuti who carried it, more than anything else.
Although the big thing I'm getting for myself is yet to be determined. It was Sunday evening when I dusted off Elder Scrolls Online to play for the first time in a while, and found the launcher first refused to update, then got stuck on the loading screen. Monday morning their tech support informed me the game is no longer compatible with my current graphics card. Which was when I first wondered if getting a better one might fix my Baldur's Gate lag problem as well. I ended up emailing the IT people mom and I normally go to, asking if I should get a new card, or just a new computer, since I really don't know if this one can even handle such a thing. One of their guys now wants to talk to me, but we missed each other's calls Monday evening, and I think he's been on holiday since, so...
