Much adulting to do
Mar. 5th, 2023 07:59 pmFriday I went to the dentist, an appointment that had to be rescheduled after my normal oral hygienist wasn't able to make it at the original time; she actually guessed correctly I'd rather have her there than someone else. She the recommended I get a deep cleaning. I'm not sure about everyone who works there, but I trust her. So now I have to go back there next Friday, and mom's already been talking since about how it won't be too pleasant a time.
Yesterday we did our taxes, and that, at least, was quicker and more painless than it's been in the past. Especially for my mom; looking at what numbers they'd put where on her previous returns meant she was done in only a couple of hours; in previous years, it had taken much longer. She even got a couple thousand back from the government, another improvement on recent years. I, on the other hand, ended up paying about 300.
Today she got accepted to do a presentation at an Anthony Trollope conference taking place in Oxford in September, and they also agreed to let me accompany her as a guest, since it's still a bit dubious whether she could manage this alone. I'll be glad to see Oxford again, and I should even have some time to explore on my own. We might even take a couple of days in London after the conference. My sister also might accompany us. Meanwhile, she has declared we should get global entry before we go, and we'll probably end up putting the forms in for it this week. I'm not even sure how trying a task that's going to be, but it does seem to require a lot of is dotted and ts crossed.
I'm also going into the office four days this week, because we're all wanted in on Tuesday. Between all this and not knowing whether I'll have a ride home after the deep cleaning, I may feel the need to take Friday off all together!
