May. 7th, 2022 08:44 pmWhen we drove into the parking lot for the supermarket this morning, there were banners set up all over it celebrating the place's "Grand re-opening." Which is kind of strange, since it wasn't like they were ever closed. They did do some rearranging and redecorating recently, but I don't remember them doing anything like this even when they did some actual renovation a few years back. Maybe they're just getting more excited about such things nowadays?
As we typically have, mom and I watched the Kentucky Derby this evening, though I later had to catch her up on the disqualification of last year's winner. We've watched a couple of crazy twists happen in that race, but tonight's results still felt like a stunner. Maybe all the more so because NBC had spent the afternoon hyping up a possible long shot or two, but had still barely mentioned the existence of this last-minute replacement with the longest odds of the field.
Tomorrow will be a birthday/Mother's Day dinner at a French restaurant in Old Town. Though the weather predictions being what they are, I can't say I like the idea of eating outside too much.
