Mar. 14th, 2022 06:46 pmYesterday I ended up having two conversations with my mother about Obi-Wan Kenobi and how trustworthy he had been in the original trilogy. Apparently she felt the need to compare him to Alec Guinness' character from David Lean's A Passage to India. So I ended up having to explain about how he hadn't told the young hero everything and even about his saying he'd told the truth "from a certain point of view," which mom was as unimpressed with as most are. She wasn't too impressed on hearing about Luke's other mentor saying he hadn't been ready for the burden of the truth either. At least she more or less understood everything. Sometimes a story relying on heavily-used tropes has its good points.
Lots of nifty Critical Role things today, but I'm focused on the thing we already knew was coming tomorrow. Back when I first heard that Call of the Netherdeep was going to start in Xhorhas, I knew immediately I wanted to play it as Schist; it's an obviously way to play her again. I kind of want to play it in person, too, though I'm not sure where I'm going to find a group specifically for that.
