Dec. 16th, 2020 06:06 pmYesterday morning mom thought her gift to me hadn't arrived. I'd requested she get me Brian's Blackened White, and, like everything else, it had been ordered off Amazon, but unlike with everything else, she hadn't paid for a gift bag. And she had no idea how to check to see whether an Amazon product had shipped or exactly where it was if it had. And then, somehow, she failed to find any record of the order. I came out of the shower to a request for the name of the book again or another one, and she was ready to reorder it. Already possessing a whole new reason to never again use Amazon for anything I could get anywhere else, I suggest she at least order it from somewhere else, even if that might mean it not arriving until January. Then I reminded her of the title.
And then she realized it was the really thin book that had arrived unwrapped, which she thought couldn't be my present because I always request big sci-fi/fantasy tomes, and she had been very confused by where this random book had come from, but she'd started reading it and been liking it. I'd already seen it highly recommended, but it's no easy task for such a book to impress my mother. Now I'm really looking forward to reading it.
It is now wrapped and sitting under the tree with everything else. Noting how thin it was, mom offered to buy me a second book, but I think we've had enough of ordering things for one year.
