While I was watching Talks Machina, finding refuge in these four people and Liam O'Brien's having no qualms in telling his friends how much he loves them: Caleb Widogast being bi/pansexual is genuinely important to me, and having it calmly confirmed, Liam being simply matter of fact about his attractions to Jester and Essek, was even more important. Because we still don't get many such characters on screen. At best, we get ambiguous cases. Even shows with gay/lesbian characters often have everyone completely one way or completely the other. And someone like Caleb, where his sexuality isn't the focus, but he's instead allowed to have a gripping, dramatic story like any other character, with just the occasional appropriate pause to look longingly at Jester or flirt with Essek, is even more of a holy grail.
I honestly didn't even realize how much I needed this, a story about someone who was like me. Of course we already had Vax, but Caleb also being potentially autistic means I was already identifying with him in this way, and this makes it even better.
