missizzy: (broke)
Turning on my computer today, it buzzed alarmingly. It's still working, and while I feared the sound would give out, for the moment it hasn't. Still, this is another sign of many that it's on its way out. I've already started moving my files over the external hard drive, and I may finish the final podfic I've been working on as early as today, after which there are no projects left that can't be moved over easily.
I have never actually installed a computer myself. That was something dad always did up until his death, and while I got this one right after it, it was actually installed by the IT company my sister recommended let handle our computer issues, while I was at work. Without consulting me about anything whatsoever; I left in the morning with my old computer newly broken and came home to the news that I had bought and paid for an overexpensive new one which I've understood too little of and has had too many issues for the kind of money it cost. That's one thing I don't intend to let happen again. This time, I have made clear I will pick the computer, and I'll see if I can get one I can operate completely on my own. I don't really have anyone else to buy it from, but there's enough Trumpism in that company I don't want to trust them any more than I have to.
ETA: I've just discovered I've accidentally made the Audacity project file unusable. Guess I've getting that new computer even sooner...
