Strange Night
Dec. 27th, 2018 10:00 pmIt seems the members of my family still don't get the shutdowns off if they go on for longer than a day. Though at least it in fact allowed my mother and me to do our usual Christmas traditions, because I didn't have to go in to get my notice of furlough yesterday. Instead, we went to the National Portrait Gallery and saw the Obamas, though my mother was not impressed by some of the artistic choices there. I myself have the uneasy feeling there's something about Michelle's portrait that I missed. We saw a few other exhibits as well, including a fascinating one about silhouettes.
Today was back to work. Since the Defense of Defense is fully funded, it's business as usual for everyone in the Pentagon who doesn't directly deal with the higher-ups, except the building's still a bit empty anyway, because so many people remain on leave. The day was very boring. Really, the most interesting part of it has been the next hour, when I've been watching a lot of Twitter videos of the New York sky. These are the times we wonder if the aliens could possibly make things any worse than they are already, but it seems this is case of just another damn power plant skimping on the safety regulations.
Starting to get uneasy about my sinuses, and the fact that they haven't felt normal for well over a month. I did get a passable recording of my song on Tuesday, which I may well end up posting Sunday night. Then I don't know when I'll dare start the next one.
