Dec. 31st, 2016 09:11 amAt long last, the final day of this horrid year. Although the forecast of next year, of course, is looking still worse. Unless they decide to drop the a-bombs tonight and kill us before we reach it. I intend to go to bed long before midnight tonight. If the year ends with apocalypse, I'd rather die in my sleep.
It's strange, though, that for me this actually wasn't a bad year at all. It was the best year in my sister's life, as she finally made a dream come true and now can make her living blogging about pop culture. While she was at it, she was able to make me a paid blogger too. I'm barely making enough to cover my IceNetwork subscription each year(and that's if they don't raise the rate on that. Again), but I'm getting read by a hell of a lot more people than I was. I also got promoted at my day job, although the stress that's brought with it makes me wonder if it's actually worth the extra money...
Also, I wrote a lot of fic, especially during the first half of the year. I think the year might even be about to end with my getting podficced for the second time; after IPTE sent the gifts out, I got followed on Twitter by a podficcer, making me seriously wonder if she'd just gotten as her gift one of my fics recorded. Also, around the time the exchange started, another one favorited my tweet linking to "The One You're With." Meant as a bookmark? (It sure is flattering either way!)
Semi-morbid funny story: as my mother learns about Carrie Fisher, whom she has already developed a great admiration for as a writer, she also for the first time saw her famous hairbuns. Her reaction? To ask me why she was wearing Mickey Mouse ears, and was that deliberate?
