Oct. 30th, 2016 10:00 pmToday mom and I planned to roast a chicken in the newly renovated kitchen for the first time. We even prepared the chicken and put in in the oven. And then we neglected to turn it on. Through two hours, neither of us realized the implications of no heat or smell coming out of the kitchen. I put on the spaghetti, checked the time on the oven clock, and didn't realize I shouldn't be able to do that, because the time only displays when the oven's off. It wasn't until we opened it that we suddenly realized.
So I popped some meatballs in the microwave, and we just had spaghetti tonight. The chicken is now sitting in the fridge for tomorrow. Guess it's just been that kind of a month.
Went to a Halloween party last night where I donned my newly bought expensive Regency day dress and old cardinal cloak which I got from American Girl when I was a kid, and thankfully still fits. The people there thought I was Little Red Riding Hood. Guess I have to save the cloak for Jane Austen conferences and other places where cosplay is allowed and people realize when a period cloak is a period cloak. I might wear the dress to AwesomeCon. Just need to get a shawl and stockings and footwear, one of those tiny knit purses, and maybe some appropriate jewelry. I'd need those to wear it to a Jane Austen conference anyway. Last night I could get away with wearing work stockings and shoes and a more Victorian-era hairstyle because noone there knew better, and I took my normal purse and hung it up as soon as I got in. Around more learned people, one must be more thorough.
