We've got another spot of warm weather this weekend. Yesterday I went out to Old Town and bought a new necklace which I'll wear today to go bowling with my Asberge's social group. Apparently they were predicting another snowstorm next week, but now it looks like it'll be a rainstorm instead.
Now reading Mary Beard's SQBR, a history of Ancient Rome. So far it's definitely been a good read, getting in depth about the conspiracy of Cataline and taking a modern look at it, and then looking at Rome's origin study, and analyzing how the Roman historians themselves were aware of how much of it was mythical and what it said about Roman values and belief, and also the limited archaeological evidence that we have to try to determine how the city of Rome actually came into being. Those certainly weren't things talked about in either my high school or college classes, though in the former I translated sections of Sullust's account of Cataline's conspiracy and also the opening of Cicero's famous Senate speech/diatribe against Cataline(though honestly, I think Cicero, like Virgil, is the kind of writer high school students are not yet ready to deal with unless they've been studying Latin before junior high, which is when most of them start).
5,000 words into a Matt/Foggy/Karen omegaverse fic, and I'm kind of proud of the version of the alpha/beta/omega phenomenon I'm doing. I'm even tempted to try fics putting other MCU characters in the same universe, but don't have any solid ideas yet.
