Spent most of the week nervous about the fate of the country my late father left along with his foreign-born bride because its class system meant he couldn't get the opportunities there he got over here, but we nonetheless have all been very sentimental over and loved, even if with our eyes open, especially with regards to what its current government is doing to it right now. Also for the prospects for my current novel, which stars among others a quartet of three Scottish skaters and an American-born partner. Although I was ready to rewrite it. In fact, I'm even kind of disappointed, now, that various things I would've written I won't. Though there is at least one scene I would've been very sorry to lose, so...
It's not that I can blame Scotland for wanting out. Though I would not have liked to be in that country when it became a nation led by the likes of Alex Salmond. A country's fate is never good when that sort of ultra-nationalist takes power. Perhaps they will become independent someday, but hopefully it will be under better circumstances, both economically and politically.
Meanwhile, I am continuing to watch the Scottish Doctor on BBC America, and I'm starting to appreciate Doctor Who, though I don't know how far into it I will ever get. Also brought the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. DVD for vidding purposes, and eagerly awaiting that premiere on Tuesday.
