This morning my official supervisor sent the emails around, informing us that it was time to be notified that we were going to be furloughed, it had to be done in person, and to pick a time slot for half an hour's discussion on the matter. Also I got informed way late my furlough day must be either Monday or Friday; middle week days will not be allowed(it was scheduled in as Monday already when my office did our plan on HR command). I made my time request, submitted my other info, continued about the day's business, and then in the afternoon got the news that the notice had been put off; the details of the Continuing Resolution in Congress complicates things, they need time to study the issue, and now we won't be notified until the 5th. Which means we may not be able to be furloughed until we'll need to miss more than one day a week before the end of the fiscal year to make up the time if we're still losing 22 days. But nothing any of us can do but wait.
There were more immediate things in the building to be displeased about this week, such as the meatloaf that apparently gave at least six people food poisoning according to the janitor, including the guy who for all real purposes really is in charge of our office now. He may insist on coming in for a couple hours tomorrow morning, which everyone sees as indication of his being crazy. Others are sensibly taking off; it's a quiet week in the place anyway.
Rode in my mom's new car for the first time this week. It has a large blue "on" button that looks really amusing, though that you can work the car without the keys is kind of worrying. Also another button that says "Apps," though we have yet to make extensive use of it.
