Typing from my new computer

I originally meant to wait the pandemic out before replacing my long ailing computer, but I ended up ordering a new one several weeks back. Took a while to show, and the people I ordered it from insisted on sending someone into the house to set it up-and then he had to come back today with speakers and a thing for the wifi. But that's all here now to have me in business, and there'll even be a webcam arriving at some point. So now I am logging into things and have to download a bunch of programs, although I think I'm going to make a go at doing without Office. (If I can rescue my doc file for the Weyard Sisters; nearly done with the next part, but now WordPad won't open it!)
Now the waiting game is to see when they actually will require me to return. The process of bringing everyone back into the Pentagon is due to start on the 15th, but that wouldn't have involved most of my directorate immediately, and I'm not sure the conference center has even gotten power back yet. And I've got a horrible suspicion this is going to go very wrong...

Breaking in {err, to coin a phraseonly} a new computer is always a pain...

I hope you're able to wait as long as possible. I just got my return date yesterday (the 22nd), and I really hope the governor keeps his word that if we start seeing spikes, he'll dial things back. Of course even if he does, I don't know that I wouldn't be required to continue to report in person. We'll see, I suppose!

Sooner than most of us had anticipated, to be sure. Thankfully, our supervisors have taken our concerns seriously, and implemented a lot of the protective measures that we've asked for.

That said, I hope you can stay home for as long as possible.
