We're getting the carpet replaced in the library backrooms this week, and yesterday, they started slightly ahead of schedule, driving us all out and into the main library in the afternoon. It was a good thing we're closed on Mondays. On my way out, I finally got the message sent around noon of my would-be date for the night cancelling on me. Which left me honestly relieved; it wasn't a date I had been looking forward to that much. It was only when sitting in an Italian restaurant in Old Town later (didn't care for their pasta, sadly) that I found out my acting boss had been replaced by another acting boss for the second time in recent years. I'll worry about him if he's still around once the all the new carpet's down.

Around the time I saw the Google logo grayed out this morning, I started to think that this whole thing is getting ridiculous, especially for a guy a lot of people actually have very good reason not to mourn. I may flee to the movies today. But first, I'm getting this up, having finished it this morning.

Summer officially doesn't end for another ten days or so, but right now, it feels like fall has started suddenly, temperatures dropping and downpours coming in. And we're not even sure yet if the hurricane's going to hit us. My sister has basically been out of the area for a week and a half now; one of the media outlets she works for sent her to where they're about to start filming the Downtown Abbey movie, and she only got back today-to the news Florence's eye might pass through Quantico, only ten minutes from where she lives! We still don't really know how to deal with hurricanes up here.
I've been doing the blogging since we got back, though. This weekend I watched far more skating than tennis, between the Russian test skates and other events, and today, I finally wrote an entry on Stolbova & Klimov. And the Dancing with the Stars cast is coming out Wednesday, and I didn't even find that out until this evening! Also trying to watch Iron Fist, one episode per day, because my Misty ficlet's coming up fast (possibly my third next, possibly later), and I figured I'd wanted to get through this season before writing it. And having been spoiled for one big end twist, I already know I was dead right there. I actually don't mind knowing already; gives me more time to figure out what to do with things. Trying to find time in which to finish writing my Pepper ficlet this week, though I doubt it'll go up before Saturday.

Tonight, my mother went out to see a cinematic broadcast of a London production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf starring Imelda Staunton. And she got confused as to where she'd put the car, and called me in hysterics, before she found the security office and they helped her find it. Not the most auspicious night before our upcoming beach vacation. Apparently the production wasn't very good either.
Now one episode away from finishing Iron Fist. About time, since they're starting the buildup to The Defenders. Finishing with mixed feelings. The later part of the season is definitely better paced and more engaging than the first half. But there are still plenty of things it doesn't fix, and meanwhile, I'm really not sure how I feel about the whole twist with Colleen Wing.
Wondering if maybe we'll be rid of Trump after all, but also wondering if it'll do much good at this point, unless this whole Flynn and the transition team thing actually takes out Pence too, the investigation first takes long enough to stretch to 2019, and the House flips. But that would be a year and a half away, by which time all the damage may have been done. Meanwhile, they're not even letting us write to the FCC about Net Neutrality any more, and I don't know what happens to any of us if we lose that. Getting kind of tired of Comcast's lies getting tweeted into my timeline too.
Actually, getting kind of tired of all the promoted tweets you aren't even allowed to dismiss any more. It's not to the point where I'm considering leaving Twitter yet, but they are making themselves harder to use in more than one way.
