The old computer was unchanged this morning. I've gotten almost everything off it now. I forgot one file I wanted to grab, and two of them refused to go onto the flash drives, even zipped, claiming they're too big, and my initial attempts to transfer them by other means have failed; that's probably going to be a next weekend problem.
At least I have now completed one years-long endeavour: by far the longest podfic I have ever recorded. Editing it has been an education in itself. Though even now I'm now much better at getting rid of clicks and such, to remove all the sound glitches from this one remained impossible. I'll actually be testing out my new microphone by recording something a little shorter on it, and if it fixes that problem, it'll be worth it for that even if the whole streaming thing doesn't work out.

Testing new apparatus

I decided to attempt to record a short podfic just using my new webcam's built-in microphone. The audio quality isn't the best, necessarily, especially at the beginning of this, but not really worse than my iPad recordings either. So I'm not sure what I'll use going forward, but meanwhile, I've ended up with this.

Weird Day Yesterday...

We're getting the carpet replaced in the library backrooms this week, and yesterday, they started slightly ahead of schedule, driving us all out and into the main library in the afternoon. It was a good thing we're closed on Mondays. On my way out, I finally got the message sent around noon of my would-be date for the night cancelling on me. Which left me honestly relieved; it wasn't a date I had been looking forward to that much. It was only when sitting in an Italian restaurant in Old Town later (didn't care for their pasta, sadly) that I found out my acting boss had been replaced by another acting boss for the second time in recent years. I'll worry about him if he's still around once the all the new carpet's down.
